Explore Vintage Threads and Local Fare at the Iconic Dumbo Brooklyn Flea Market

The best part about living at 98 Front is its location in the heart of Dumbo, giving residents easy access to everything from fine dining to cultural spaces — including a unique marketplace that is just around the corner. Every Sunday during the summer, at The Archway under the Manhattan Bridge in Dumbo, New Yorkers from all boroughs flock to sample wares from the many vendors who make up Brooklyn Flea. Since the summer of 2008, Brooklyn Flea has set up shop on Saturdays in Williamsburg and on Sundays in Dumbo (from April through October), bringing local cooks, craftspeople, vintage vendors, and artists together in one place.

Located less than a two-minute walk from the front doors of the new Dumbo condos at 98 Front, the Sunday Brooklyn Flea feels historic, due in part to its surroundings. From the grand, sweeping space of The Archway to the nearby warehouses and cobblestone streets, the Dumbo version of Brooklyn Flea has what co-founder Eric Demby calls “a timeless, almost European feel that’s distinct from our other market locations.”

As far as vendors go, offerings at the Dumbo market include Smorgasburg-approved restaurants and food trucks, including Belgian fries by Home Frite and Shanghai-style savory crepes by Jianbing Company. You will also find unique clothiers such as Nina Z, who sells stylish Swedish clogs, and vintage purveyors like Past Lives Vintage. Booths hocking original art from as far away as Africa or as near as a neighborhood in Brooklyn sit side by side, overwhelming visitors with the variety of colors and textures. Other popular vendors include Thea Grant, with their selections of couture jewelry; Windsor Place Antiques, offering vintage prints and posters; and American Butt, where you can sift through retouched vintage clothing. Visitors to the market can leave weighed down with shopping bags secure in the knowledge that their purchases have helped support the very artists and curators who sold them their goods.

The Dumbo Brooklyn Flea is just one of the ways for residents at 98 Front to connect with their neighborhood. The building itself was designed with its surroundings in mind, and features Alumil sound-attenuating windows, which keep out excess noise while providing intimate views of the historic neighborhood. With easy access to Brooklyn Bridge Park, convenient subway stops, and local institutions like the Brooklyn Flea, 98 Front is the perfect address to begin your Dumbo journey.
